Emily Hu is a nationally recognized strength coach and elite powerlifter, known for her record-breaking feats and no-nonsense, evidence-based approach to training. With a background in biomedical engineering from Duke and years of hands-on coaching experience, Emily blends scientific precision with mental resilience to help clients unlock their full potential.
Her training style is grounded in strength performance and progressive overload, emphasizing perfect form, and long-term movement sustainability. Whether coaching beginners or competitive athletes, Emily’s goal is to build strength from the inside out — cultivating confidence, discipline, and physical power . Emily is one of the few women in the world to bench press over 300 lbs at a bodyweight under 123 lbs. She has held multiple world records in powerlifting and continues to compete at the highest level. But her proudest accomplishments come from the progress of her clients — watching everyday individuals gain strength, overcome injury, and realize what they’re capable of. Emily offers in-person coaching and remote strength programming, and she’s passionate about making the weight room a welcoming and empowering space for all.
